This set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles paintings were done shortly after the new Nickelodeon series premired. I had recently picked up a 4 pack of 6X6 block canvases and knew just what to paint. Acrylic is not my paint of choice as I usually prefer watercolor, but it was a fun challenge and in the end each one ended up have a mixture of mediums added such as ink, marker and colored pencil.
Although the designs were inspired by the new style of the show, I chose to allow for some creative differences, most notable in the fact that Ralph has the missing tooth not Donnie.
Also as for Ralph, his background was another experiment as I masked-off and splattered red paint on it… still not sure if I liked the result, but the glossy splatter would be hard to cover up.
Down the road I may go back and add a design to the other's backgrounds but for now I'm moving on.
